La Chapelle Saint Mesmin on the banks of the Loire

Only 3.5 miles from Orléans, not far from Beauce and Sologne and on the threshold of the Forest of Orléans, La Chapelle Saint Mesmin is a small town offering the perfect environment to recharge your batteries in the Loiret region. Its name dates back to the 6th Century, when Frankish King Clovis brought the elderly Saint Euspice and his nephew Mesmin to found a monastery on the Micy peninusula, on the far banks of the Loire. According to the legend, Saint Mesmin fought a dragon in Béraire (as the settlement was known at the time), and so gave the place its name.

The church of Saint-Mesmin was built above the dragon's cave, in the 11th and 12th Centuries, and is now a simple and harmonious building that provides a magnificent view of the Loire. Staying at the Orléans Parc Hôtel in La Chapelle Saint Mesmin you will benefit from the perfect location to enjoy this charming town on the banks of the Loire.
